Blood & Spirit Ancestors

These projects aim to reclaim the role of culture keeping. They reflect my personal process of shaping and documenting contemporary Iu Mien & Khmu culture through building and transforming my relationships to tradition, spirituality, indigeneity, and defintion of authenticity as a queer, biethnic third-culture kid. The subjects of these projects include Blood & Spirit Ancestors.

Land Ancestors

Nature, Land, and landscapes as ancestors - My goal with these projects were to portray themes, lessons, and teachings that I've gleaned from listening to and being in relationship with the Land Ancestors of the places I have encountered and call home. While I feel like no work of art, spoken or written language can ever communitcate what the Land Ancestors themselves have to say, my hope is to spark a desire in others to commune with Land and deeply listen. I believe that it is primarily through this intentional act of feeling, being with and learning to listen to Land Ancestors, that humanity can truly begin to embody interdependence - Collective Liberation is a work of interbeing between all species and ancestors, human and beyond.
